In “Police shootings connected to racial profiling” (News, January 25), Samir Shaheen-Hussain was quoted as saying “the day Anas was killed there was extra police presence in Côte-Des-Neiges. Officers were there to bust a credit card fraud ring that was thought to have links to terrorism.”

In fact, several other sources need to be credited for this information. Articles in both Le Devoir and the Montreal Mirror affirmed that at the time of Anas’ murder Montreal police were aiding the Sûreté du Québec in investigations surrounding a fraud case. Shaheen-Hussain’s comment on the credit fraud ring’s alleged links to terrorism is widely speculated – but the interviewee does not take credit for this assumption, nor does he encourage that it be taken as proven fact.

In “Bail out our pensions” (Features, February 9), The Daily included the line, “That’s how the market works: sometimes you win, sometimes you lose,” twice by accident.

The Daily regrets the errors.
