Influences
Counting Crows, R.E.M. – what I listened to growing up has just sort of inherently influenced my
sound.
Playing since:
I was actually in a band in Ottawa for five years, so I started playing shows in that band when I was
15….The band broke up, and 2 years later I started writing my own songs. I started writing this record
about year and a half ago.
If you could play any venue in Montreal, what would it be?
I would say the Spectrum, but they closed it….It was still small enough that you could still hear every
thing with no echo anywhere in the room. It just had a good vibe to it.
What sets you apart from other student musicians?
Probably the fact that there’s a big trend in terms of music right now, in terms of “indie music”….
Basically what I try to do is just write to-the-point, honest songs, and just play rock music as much as I
can. It’s not like I’m trying to sound like anything, it just comes out like that.
What can we expect from you in the near future?
A lot of shows. Over the summer I’m going to do a small, week-long tour – Toronto, Kingston –
Ontario and Quebec basically. I’m going to do a lot of solo shows, and shop around this EP that I’ve
finished.
What’s the strangest thing that’s ever happened to you at a show?
Probably bleeding, actually. I cut the top of my finger while I was playing guitar in my old band…. I
had no idea till the end of the show, when I saw blood all over my guitar.
If you could invite any musician to play with you, who would it be?
I would like to play a show with a comedian like Nick Swardson. My favourie musician right now is
Ryan Adams…but for a singer I’d go with Adam Duritz.
If your music was a piece of visual art, what would it look like?
It definitely wouldn’t be abstract art. It would probably look like a well-painted Baroque classic painting.

I hope people read this, and come to the show! Im playing with Charlotte Cornfield, who goes to
Concordia, and Darling Demaes. Those are the best two acts I’ve heard in the city that aren’t already
popular.
